About The Position

Grasslands Club is seeking an experienced and service-driven Banquet Captain to lead event service operations and ensure exceptional member and guest experiences. The Banquet Captain is responsible for supervising banquet staff during events, coordinating with culinary and event teams, and executing all banquet functions in alignment with club standards. This leadership role requires professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering the elevated hospitality experience expected at a private club.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of banquet or hospitality leadership experience (private club experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of banquet service styles (plated, buffet, family-style, cocktail reception, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret BEOs and event diagrams.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • TABC certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedule.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and lead banquet service for weddings, member events, corporate meetings, golf tournaments, and social functions.
  • Conduct pre-event meetings with service staff to review event details, timelines, room diagrams, menus, and service expectations.
  • Ensure proper room setup according to BEOs (Banquet Event Orders) and club standards.
  • Inspect banquet areas before, during, and after events to maintain presentation and cleanliness.
  • Coordinate timing of food service with the culinary team to ensure seamless execution.
  • Monitor service flow and adjust staffing as needed to maintain efficiency and service quality.
  • Supervise, train, and motivate banquet servers and support staff.
  • Assign service sections and responsibilities.
  • Enforce club service standards, uniform guidelines, and professional conduct.
  • Provide real-time coaching to staff during events.
  • Assist in onboarding and ongoing training of banquet team members.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact during events for members, hosts, and event planners.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests or concerns.
  • Ensure all service reflects Grasslands Club’s standards of excellence and hospitality.
  • Review BEOs for accuracy and communicate any discrepancies.
  • Assist with inventory control of banquet equipment, linens, and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and alcohol service regulations.
  • Complete post-event reports as required.
  • Assist with scheduling and payroll verification when needed.
