As a Banquet Captain, you will be responsible for the planning, preparation, set-up, service, break-down, and cleanup of group events in accordance with the Banquet Event Order (BEO) to meet the client's expectations within the company's brand guidelines. Serving as a liaison between the F&B leadership team and the Event front and back-of-the-house team members, you will ensure the smooth execution of events according to guest specifications.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be 21 years of age or older
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Comfortable working in a creative, entrepreneurial start-up environment, introducing new concepts and innovations.
  • Self-starter capable of multitasking, working independently, and contributing to various business functions.
  • Valid Food Handler Card issued by SNHD
  • Familiarity with service styles, food presentation standards, and wine and food varieties.
  • Comfortable in a creative, entrepreneurial start-up environment, open to introducing new concepts and innovations.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution and negotiation.
  • Ability to work safely in conditions involving wet floors, temperature extremes, excessive noise, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • 1-3 years of banquet management experience, preferably in a management role.
  • Extensive F&B and service knowledge.
  • Leadership skills within a team environment, with flexibility for varying schedules.
  • Valid driver's license for equipment retrieval and transport for off-site events.
  • Ability to understand, speak, read, and write the English language.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft applications. (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.)
  • Availability for varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work in an environment subject to varying levels of noise, crowds, flashing lights, and smoke.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions including but not limited to extreme heat, sun exposure, wind, rain, extreme cold.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for Event employees to achieve and maintain efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with Sales team as well as F&B Operations and Culinary Managers in pre-planning event details, including equipment requisition and communication with the Event front and back-of-the-house teams.
  • Fully understand details in Banquet Event Orders and relay information to Event staff to ensure all events meet AREA15 Service Standards.
  • Make changes to the BEO when directed and communicate with the Event team members.
  • Support the Catering and F&B Operations teams on the day of each assigned event and adapt to varying schedules based on business demands.
  • Perform and monitor specified pre-banquet side work, including setting up china, glass, and silverware, making requisitions for banquet beverages and food, and inspecting the function area for proper set-up.
  • Report any abnormalities to management promptly.
  • Review Banquet Event Orders, prepare diagrams when needed, and coordinate with support departments to finalize event details, ensuring compliance with department, property, and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Inventory all FOH Catering equipment to ensure items are retrieved, counted, and secured.
  • Report any damages and/or loss to management promptly.
  • Maintain a high level of urgency and responsiveness during all assigned events.
  • Demonstrate ART! (AREA15's service standards) in every guest interaction.
  • Adhere to department and company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a professional, polished appearance in line with AREA15 standards.
  • Work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
