Position Summary: In addition to fulfilling the core responsibilities of a Bankruptcy Specialist I, this role includes reviewing Proofs of Claim, Bankruptcy Plans, Chapter 7 Schedules, Motions for Relief, and other relevant motions and objections filed with the Bankruptcy Court. The position also involves ongoing monitoring of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy accounts to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Requires a minimum of three years of experience in bankruptcy or collections; paralegal certification or background is preferred.
  • Strong background in compliance, document review, and financial analysis.
  • Experience working in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) Certificate required.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Professional written and verbal communication
  • Ability to identify discrepancies and ensure compliance.
  • Commitment to maintaining client confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Process newly filed Chapter 13 and 7 bankruptcies into the company database and review related documentation including claims and reaffirmations.
  • Determine necessary objections or motions and ensure compliance with bankruptcy court deadlines and payment schedules.
  • Reconcile payments on pre- and post-bankruptcy petitions and issue default notices for non-compliant loans.
  • Manage inbound calls from attorneys, trustees, and customers, providing professional and prompt resolutions.
  • Document account activity and conversations in the system for accurate tracking and follow-up.
  • Review NDC and Shaw Systems for bankruptcy data accuracy and audit for inconsistencies.
  • Complete reporting and spreadsheet tasks for management review and close accounts no longer in bankruptcy.
  • Ensure bankruptcy accounts comply with the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and federal regulations.
  • Order property damage appraisals and review consent orders when applicable.
  • Maintain confidentiality while regularly accessing sensitive consumer information such as Social Security numbers and birth dates.
