Job Summary The Bakken trend is a sequence of liquids-rich sand and shale layers in the Williston Basin, which stretches across western North Dakota and into Canada. The company’s position in the Bakken development area is comprised of approximately 790,000 net unconventional acres, which include 382,000 net mineral acres and 180,000 net leasehold acres. The company focuses on unconventional tight-oil play development and production in the most prolific portion of the basin. During 2024, net production averaged 115 MBOED. We operated four rigs and one frac crew on average during 2024, resulting in 66 operated wells drilled and 83 operated wells brought online. Position Overview As a Bakken Production Engineering Analyst, you will join a team dedicated to achieving ConocoPhillips' production and cost objectives within the Williston & Rockies asset. Reporting directly to the Bakken Production Engineering Supervisor, you will collaborate closely with Production Engineers, Operations field staff, well interventions and integrity teams, as well as IT personnel. This position is accountable for developing, governing, and maintaining essential tools necessary for effective production surveillance and cost optimization. Additionally, you will serve as a representative of the Production Engineering function, working with IT to sustain analytical solutions that enhance production surveillance.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • 3 or more years of direct experience in oil & gas industry
  • 1 or more years of experience in data analysis, data analytics
  • Advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft O365 applications: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams and Word

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or other related technical field, or foreign equivalent
  • 1 or more years of experience as an Engineering Technician / Analyst
  • Basic level of proficiency with the Production Engineering discipline and key workflows such as production data management, surveillance, well intervention and well integrity
  • Familiarity with oil & gas production data and allocation tools
  • Familiarity with Production surveillance tools including SCADA, XSPOC, Cygnet, AVEVA PI
  • Familiarity with analytical and data visualization tools such as Spotfire, PowerBI, SQL, R, Python, etc
  • Familiarity with Well View and Access
  • Familiarity with Snowflake (preferred) or other data warehouse platforms
  • Intermediate skills in PowerBI report construction and management
  • Awareness of Power Automate (Flow) and Power Apps
  • Ability and willingness to integrate across teams to identify and drive business needs
  • Efficient written and verbal communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and govern day-to-day production engineering digital tools required for Production optimization and surveillance supporting the Williston asset
  • Schedule/Coordinate day-to-day Well Intervention activities based on guidance from Production Engineering Team and Well Intervention Superintendent, track costs and compile daily report for Asset Team and Support groups
  • Capture and track downhole equipment failure trends and artificial lift failure rates
  • Manage and update field wide databases
  • Create and maintain PowerBI or Spotfire dashboards to drive production surveillance activities by leveraging corporate datastore
  • Act as liaison between Asset Team and supporting functions such as Land, Reservoir and Production Accounting to assure quality production data flow
  • Respond with appropriate urgency to ad-hoc requests
  • Proactively identify workflow and/or continuous improvement opportunities, including opportunities for automation where possible
  • Design and implement data analytics solutions in partnership with IT teams for use by asset team
