Since opening in 2012 in Portland, Maine, we’ve grown into a community hub for locals and visitors alike. We roast our own coffee and have two cafe locations in Portland - our first is on Anderson St in Portland's popular East Bayside which operates as a tasting room to our roastery there with elevated coffee service and selections. The second is a James Beard-nominated bakery on Congress St in Portland's West End that has been featured in Bon Appétit. What You'll DoWe're looking for an experienced baker who can / has:At least 3 to 5 years of experience baking pastries, cakes, cookies, breads, custards, and other bakery items within a high-volume environment Team-oriented work ethic and ability to understand how to manage your feelings around other people, ability to listen to others, and to ask questionsUnderstand, maintain, follow recipes and practices that adhere to and uphold Tandem’s aesthetic and quality commitmenthave respect for and a desire to be involved in the majority of bakery operations and atmosphereFamiliarity using large-scale kitchen equipment such as mixers, scales, ovens, stove, blenders, knives, food processors and other equipmentPossess excellent communication skills with coworkers and managers, have the ability to bring any inventory, production or equipment needs to the management’s attention in a timely manner Demonstrate excellent time management skills with the ability to take direction as well as self-direct during slow periods.
