About The Position

Stack City BBQ offers southern BBQ cuisine at its best, built on community, smoke, and good times in the backyard in Austin. As the company moves into a growth phase, they are seeking Part-Time Back of the House & Prep Team Members to join their Austin site. This role is the backbone of kitchen operations, ensuring ingredient preparation, station setup, cooking support, and cleanup are executed with precision and speed. The commitment to consistency and cleanliness will help deliver fresh, flavorful meals and an exceptional guest experience. Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of experience in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Strong knife skills and familiarity with kitchen equipment
  • Ability to work quickly under pressure and maintain composure during peak hours
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Food Handler’s certification or willingness to obtain one immediately
  • Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities

  • Ingredient preparation
  • Prepare produce, proteins, and starches daily
  • Portion sauces, garnishes, and toppings according to standardized recipes
  • Execute service at a cooking station
  • Assist line cooks with basic cooking tasks and station maintenance
  • Monitor cooking times and temperatures to uphold quality standards
  • Station setup & maintenance
  • Restock supplies and ingredients before and during service
  • Sanitize work surfaces, utensils, and equipment between prep shifts
  • Quality assurance
  • Inspect incoming deliveries and report any discrepancies
  • Adhere strictly to food safety guidelines (FIFO, temperature logs, proper storage)
  • Cleanup & sanitation
  • Wash dishes, pans, and cooking tools using industrial dishwashers or by hand
  • Sweep, mop, and take out trash to maintain a spotless kitchen environment
  • Team collaboration
  • Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff regarding order priorities and timing
  • Assist wherever needed to keep service flowing smoothly
