About The Position

The Aviation Officer / Chief Pilot is responsible to the Director of Aviation Operations for the overall management, control, and execution of Department of Defense (DoD) flight and ground operations and for the leadership and regulatory compliance of the FAA Part 145 Repair Station supporting General Aviation operations. This position serves as the single accountable authority for the safe, compliant, and effective conduct of all government-authorized flight activities and all civil activities conducted under the FAA Repair Station certificate, ensuring full compliance with DCMA Instruction 8210, AR 95-1, FAA regulations, and Company Policies. The Chief Pilot is the primary technical and operational advisor to the Director of Aviation Operations and acts as the company’s senior authority on flight operations, pilot qualification, aircraft authorization, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of AR 95-1, DCMA 8210, and FAA regulations
  • Ability to maintain contractor flight records and qualification systems
  • Strong risk management, decision analysis, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, regulations, and safety directives
  • Ability to communicate clearly with Government, FAA, and executive leadership
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in high-risk, regulated aviation environment
  • BA/BS in Aviation or related field
  • 10+ years aviation management experience
  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate
  • Instrument Rotorcraft Rating
  • Minimum 1,000 hours PIC
  • Valid FAA or Military Class II Medical
  • Valid Commercial Rotorcraft Type Rating (UH-60 preferred)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Government Security Clearance
  • Ability to pass drug screening

  • MP and PC rated in UH-60A/L/M (preferred)
  • Instructor pilot / Maintenance Examiner a plus

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary advisor to the Director of Aviation Operations for all matters involving DoD flight and ground operations under DCMA Instruction 8210.
  • Act as the Contractor’s Requesting Official (CRO) for the Yulista Aviation Complex in accordance with Company policy.
  • Establish, maintain, and revise all Flight and Ground Operating Procedures in compliance with DCMA 8210, AR 95-1.
  • Maintain and control all contractor and subcontractor pilot records, qualifications, and currency in accordance with AR 95-1 and DCMA 8210.
  • Conduct and approve mission briefings for authorized flights in accordance with policies.
  • Submit Flight Authorization Requests to the Government Flight Representative (GFR).
  • Coordinate government, partner, and subcontractor pilots and maintenance test pilots to ensure mission readiness and completion.
  • Work daily with a GFR, and government oversight agencies to ensure compliance and mission success.
  • Ensure compliance with risk management, flight approval, aircraft configuration control, and operational restrictions.
  • Ensure full compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
  • Be qualified to operate aircraft under Day, Night, and IMC conditions.
  • Perform ferry flights, maintenance check flights, and test flights as required.
  • Plan routes, obtain clearances, navigate, and execute flights using aeronautical charts, terrain, and navigation systems.
  • Support TDY flight missions when directed by the COR or Government Representative.
  • Support MILAIR aircraft transport.
  • Support all flight and non-flight tasking as directed through the chain of command.
  • This position will direct overall business function performances and perform exempt level decision making including interviewing, hiring, terminating, performance reviews, and performance corrections.
  • This position has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks.
