Maintains accountability of materials and supplies. Supervise students and ensure they wear proper safety apparel and follow safety procedures. Ensures materials and supplies are available as needed. Set up and clean the lab/shop for specific training activities. Scores and provides grades for all laboratory activities and promptly enters them into the learning management system. Supports student retention and success by working collaboratively with the HEO Program director through assessment and discipline review. Reports student issues to the assistant dean and/or dean by following proper procedures (i.e., student conduct concerns, etc.). Supports innovation, creativity, and ideas to improve/enhance processes, functions, etc., in the department and for the college.

Requirements

  • Certificate in Automotive or Diesel Technology with Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) with 5 years of non-teaching work-related experience.
  • Good computer software skills - Microsoft Office Suite-Word, Excel, etc., email and electronic calendar, and strong Internet familiarity.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with students of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to articulate and support the community college philosophy with a strong commitment to teaching and learning in a community college setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or higher in Automotive or Diesel Technology and 3 years non-teaching work experience.
  • Higher education teaching experience.
  • Documented successful teaching experience in the Automotive or Diesel Technology field.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for instructing Automotive Technician lectures and laboratory courses.
  • Responsible for grading student performance during lecture and laboratory activities following the program grading system.
  • Provides training for students to industry standards.
  • Maintains accountability of materials and supplies.
  • Supervise students and ensure they wear proper safety apparel and follow safety procedures.
  • Ensures materials and supplies are available as needed.
