Part-Time Evening Instructor Location: 4535 E Princess Anne Rd, Norfolk, VA 23502 Work Schedule (Please note that the final schedule is determined by the needs of the campus) Evening Shift: Monday-Thursday 4:00pm-10:30pm Compensation: Up to $28 per hour

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years minimum practical, work related experience required
  • All instructors must hold current ASE certification in G1, A6 and in the automobile area(s) (A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A7, and A8) they teach
  • All instructors teaching Engine Performance must also be ASE certified in L1 – Advanced Engine Performance
  • Comply with personal and environmental safety practices associated with clothing; eye protection; hand tools; power equipment; proper ventilation; and the handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals/materials in accordance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations
  • Must present a professional image and conduct him/herself in the same manner
  • Must provide information on each diploma earned, and copy of ASE Certification
  • Must be able to communicate with staff, faculty, and students
  • Must complete a minimum of 20 hours of technical update training each year.

Responsibilities

  • Teach classes on a regularly scheduled basis as assigned
  • Assist program coordinator in maintaining any equipment used by the student
  • Assist program coordinator in developing curriculum, preparing course materials, and scheduling
  • Establish and maintain academic and attendance records for student files
  • Perform other tasks that may be assigned by the program coordinator
  • Maintain a neat and orderly classroom or lab
  • Submit attendance, grades, student evaluation, and all other required reports/documentation to the program coordinator per established procedures
  • Notify program coordinator of any current or potential problems which warrant his/her attention
  • Actively utilize proven retention techniques approved by the school Automotive Technician Instructor
  • Complete performance based teacher education modules as assigned by program coordinator or as needed based on outcomes of classroom observations, instructor evaluations, and student completed surveys
  • Attend in‐service training seminars as required
  • Alert program coordinator on the first day a student is absent
  • Alert program coordinator in writing of a student’s third absence
  • Alert program coordinator in writing of a student’s fifth absence
  • On a daily basis, monitor and record attendance of all new students during the first three weeks of their first module of attendance and report attendance to program coordinator
  • Any other duties, tasks, or projects that may be assigned by the Program Coordinator, Director of Education, or School Director.
