About The Position

This position represents SCTCC’s commitment to serving its community by partnering and investing in students as they attain the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to serve the Saint Cloud and surrounding communities. Qualified candidates will demonstrate a commitment to creating an inclusive curriculum and environment where students from our community will thrive. This position is a full-time position teaching from approximately mid-August through early June. This position is on-site and class times vary but are typically held Monday through Friday.

Requirements

Education Requirement Post-secondary diploma or equivalent certificate in automotive services technology.
Occupational Experience Requirement Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in automotive service technology.
Recency Requirement One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Professional Requirement Current ASE certification in the areas in which the faculty member is teaching.
Teaching and Learning Competency Requirement: to be completed and approved in your first 3 years of employment course construction (credit course) teaching/instructional methods (credit course) student outcomes assessment/evaluation (credit course) philosophy of community and technical college education (credit or non-credit course) Faculty shall have a degree in education or three years of successful full-time (or equivalent) teaching experience prior to being hired, or shall be required to complete coursework in the above content areas (or their equivalent) prior to being granted unlimited status.
These courses shall be waived for individuals who at the time of hire have: a degree in education, or have documented evidence of successful completion of equivalent coursework in the specified teaching and learning content areas, or have three years of successful, full-time (or equivalent) secondary, postsecondary, industry, or trade apprenticeship teaching experience in the field for which they are being hired. (Procedure 3.32.1 College Faculty Credentialing, Part 5, Subpart B.2) This course shall be waived for individuals who, at the time of hire, have documented evidence of successful completion of equivalent coursework. In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (Minnesota State) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State’s vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.

The successful candidate, under U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations, must be able to accept work in the U.S. by the day employment begins.

Nice To Haves

Experience integrating simulation-based learning technologies into curriculum
Teaching experience at the postsecondary level, preferably at a two-year college
Prior on-line experience using D2L Brightspace platform or equivalent information management system

Responsibilities

Facilitate student learning in both classroom and lab settings.
Collaborate with colleagues and students, to cultivate an inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive learning environment.
Design and revise the curriculum to meet the needs of ever-changing automotive service industry trends.
