About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven General Sales Manager to lead our new and used car sales operations . The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in a new car dealership environment , the ability to coach and motivate sales teams to meet and exceed performance goals , and the confidence to be hands-on in the sales process , including strong closing skills . This role also requires collaboration with Back Up Finance Manager duties , ensuring deals are structured effectively while maintaining compliance and maximizing profitability.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of automotive sales management experience , preferably in a new car dealership environment
  • Demonstrated history of meeting or exceeding sales and gross profit goals
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills
  • Proven closing ability and comfort working directly with customers
  • Experience collaborating with F&I leadership, including Assistant Finance Managers
  • Solid understanding of CRM systems, inventory management, and digital retailing tools
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the new and used vehicle sales departments to achieve and exceed volume, gross, and CSI targets
  • Recruit, train, coach, and motivate a high-performing sales team
  • Maintain an active presence on the showroom floor and online sales channels
  • Assist in closing deals and support sales staff during negotiations
  • Work closely with the Finance Manager to ensure smooth deal flow and optimal profitability
  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly sales metrics and adjust strategies as needed
  • Implement and enforce dealership sales processes and best practices
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturer, lender, and regulatory standards
  • Foster a customer-focused culture that drives repeat and referral business
