About The Position

Scott Clark Nissan is a leading dealership in the Charlotte, NC area, dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and maintaining high standards of excellence. We are looking for an experienced and driven Automotive Controller to join our team and oversee the financial operations of our dealership. As the Automotive Controller at Scott Clark Nissan, you will be responsible for the financial health of our dealership. You will manage all accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls. You will also work closely with dealership management to provide accurate financial data to support decision-making and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Controller or in a senior accounting role, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Strong knowledge of dealership financial statements, DMS systems (e.g., CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds), and accounting best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Proven ability to lead a team and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial managers.
  • High degree of integrity and adherence to ethical accounting practices.

  • CPA or MBA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and month-end/year-end closing.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Collaborate with department heads to create budgets, financial forecasts, and strategic plans for the dealership.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Ensure adherence to all local, state, and federal tax regulations and automotive industry-specific laws.
  • Oversee financial aspects of inventory control, including vehicle costing, tracking, and reconciliation.
  • Lead efforts to prepare for internal and external audits and address audit findings.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff, fostering a team-oriented environment.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the dealership.
  • Work closely with the General Manager and other department heads to provide financial insights and strategic guidance.
