The Automation Technologist role provides essential hands-on technical support to engineering and manufacturing teams, ensuring equipment reliability and effective execution of improvement projects. This position is crucial for day-to-day operations, supporting higher-level engineering functions by implementing solutions, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining critical systems.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • 1+ years of experience as an engineering technologist or in a related technical role.
  • Ability to work in a Penicillin/Cephalosporin facility.
  • Project management capability, with experience coordinating technical tasks and supporting engineering initiatives.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with TQM, Lean, or Six Sigma methodologies (preferred).
  • Experience with CAD or 3D design tools (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Support manufacturing operations by troubleshooting equipment issues and implementing improvements to enhance reliability and performance.
  • Diagnose and repair automation systems, including PLCs, servos, robotics, HMIs and related control components under the guidance of Process/Controls Engineers and Maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical systems associated with automated and conventional manufacturing equipment.
  • Manage medium to large scope technical projects, ensuring tasks are completed on time and aligned with engineering direction.
  • Provide engineering support within project teams, contributing to process improvements and equipment upgrades.
  • Assist in installing, validating, and implementing equipment modifications, ensuring compliance with documentation and regulatory expectations.
  • Investigate equipment or process issues, analyze root causes, and recommend practical improvements.
  • Perform hardware and software updates, maintaining accurate functional specifications and adhering to change control requirements.
  • Prepare standard operating procedures for new and existing electrical control systems.
  • Prepare standard operating procedures for new and existing mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Work independently and collaboratively, supporting multi-functional teams to implement process improvement initiatives.
  • Apply strong project management skills to coordinate tasks, track progress, and ensure successful execution of assigned work.
