About The Position

Under minimal supervision, the Automation Maintenance Technician III performs advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance to molding/production machines and related equipment and helps with the implementation of new automation equipment. Essential Job Functions/Tasks: Performs machine start-up, setup and changeovers. Resupplies equipment with wire spool, grease, silicone, labels and tapes. Moves machines and installs redesigned parts and systems to molding and assembly machines. Works with Production team members to ensure they are satisfied with equipment maintenance performed. Documents equipment repairs and maintenance performed to machinery and associated equipment, utilizing correct documentation procedures. Submits suggestions for electrical, electronic, mechanical and hydraulic performance-improving modifications to molding and assembly machines and related equipment. Performs electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and PLC program modification or upgrade to enhance equipment performance. Coordinates and prioritizes maintenance activities. Communicates with production team members to ensure they are satisfied with maintenance service provided. Trains other technicians in all areas of equipment repair and maintenance. Generates and implements equipment maintenance procedures. Evaluates needs and generates part requisitions to ensure replacement parts are stocked in inventory. Seeks to improve own skill level by participating in apprenticeship program, taking job-related courses, and attending technical seminars. Able to perform weld repair on equipment outside of designated shop area (outdoors as well as other company owned buildings) safely and effectively. May be required to work overtime and/or varying hours, as necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum five years of experience in automation maintenance, mechatronics, or related field.
  • Excellent mechanical skills with knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, and electrical theory.
  • Strong proficiency in the use of power and hand tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Excellent computer knowledge, including strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and basic knowledge on cad programs.
  • Ability to read ladder logic and PLC ladder diagrams to upload/download PLC programs and to make changes on the code.
  • Ability to interpret and make necessary engineering drawings, schematics, and associated engineering documentation.
  • Ability to purchase own hand‐tools and some electrical troubleshooting devices, if necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to work with members across the organization and to train and mentor other team members.
  • Ability to bend, shape and trim metal using various specialty tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Mechatronics Tech Engineering Degree or equivalent education a plus.
