About The Position

The Automation / Maintenance Technician is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing automated and manual manufacturing equipment. This position focuses on keeping production running safely and efficiently through mechanical, electrical, and basic automation support.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform mechanical work, valve replacement, conveyor bearing and chain replacement, motor/gearbox replacement, lube routes
  • 3+ years industrial electrical/programming experience or two-year technical degree preferred
  • Strong computer skills required; Microsoft Office Excel proficiency and Computer Maintenance Management Systems experience preferred
  • Strong hands-on problem-solving ability
  • Comfortable working independently on the production floor
  • Good communication with operators, supervisors, and maintenance team
  • Willingness to work off-shifts, overtime, or on-call as needed

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in an industrial environment

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge/experience with process controls, instrumentation, and calibration
  • Knowledge of controllers including hydraulics and pneumatics
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting experience required.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLCs
  • Familiarity with pneumatics, hydraulics, and VFDs
  • CMMS experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform Routine PM’s along with ordering spare parts and maintaining stocking levels
  • Troubleshoot and repair production equipment including conveyors, presses, packaging equipment, and automated machinery
  • Diagnose electrical issues involving motors, sensors, relays, VFDs, and control circuits
  • Perform mechanical repairs such as bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, and pneumatic and hydraulic components
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and production issues on the floor
  • Program production runs
  • Troubleshoot PLC-related faults and I/O issues (basic ladder logic understanding required)
  • Assist with minor PLC, HMI, and parameter changes under engineering guidance
  • Troubleshoot sensors, photo eyes, proximity switches, encoders, and safety devices
  • Support startup, testing, and troubleshooting of automated equipment
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on production equipment
  • Inspect equipment for wear, damage, and safety concerns
  • Document maintenance work and repairs using a CMMS or maintenance logs
  • Follow all plant safety rules, lockout/tagout, and electrical safety procedures
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Report unsafe conditions and assist with corrective actions
  • Provide input on equipment reliability and maintenance improvements
  • Assist senior technicians and engineers with equipment upgrades and projects
  • Support production teams to minimize downtime and improve efficiency
