The Autism Technician provides full-time in-home and community behavioral services to patients with autism as directed in their treatment plan. This role involves participating as a treatment team member, documenting patient progress, and reporting adverse reactions to medication or treatment.

Requirements

  • Must complete 40 hours of specified orientation on autism and application of techniques
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days
  • Managing Threatening Confrontations Certified (on the job training) within 90 days
  • Basic computer skills are required

Responsibilities

  • Provides in-home and community behavioral services to patients with autism as directed in the treatment plan
  • Participates as a treatment team member by attending meetings, providing feedback about patient progress, and sharing impressions of patient status
  • Documents observations and care provided in the medical record
  • Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to the Program Supervisor and/or Qualified Supervising Provider
  • Participates in department and unit performance improvement activities
  • Maintain current de-escalation training and utilize de-escalation techniques on a daily basis
