Paraprofessional support in the Autism Center At Rocky Mountain Prep, we believe every child deserves a joyful, rigorous, and inclusive education. Our Autism Center supports scholars with autism and related needs through individualized instruction in calm, structured environments, while promoting access to inclusive learning experiences across the broader school community. Paraprofessionals are essential members of each classroom team, working closely with lead teachers and service providers to implement academic, behavioral, and personal care supports aligned to each scholar’s IEP. Using tools like visual schedules, sensory strategies, and augmentative communication, paraprofessionals help scholars build independence, regulation, and confidence. With ongoing coaching and collaboration, they contribute to learning environments where all scholars are safe, known, and celebrated. Autism Center Paraprofessionals at Rocky Mountain Prep will... Support instruction and student learning by implementing lesson plans, providing accommodations/modifications, collecting data, and working with individuals or small groups under teacher direction. Reinforce routines, behavior expectations, and social-emotional skills to promote student independence and uphold classroom and school-wide systems. Supervise students to ensure safety during all parts of the school day, including transitions, lunch, recess, and arrival/dismissal. Collaborate and communicate professionally with lead teachers, school staff, and families to support student success and school goals. Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and equity-minded practices that honor student dignity and contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment. Implement structured supports such as visual schedules, sensory plans, behavior strategies, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tools to build scholar independence and engagement. Provide individualized support aligned to IEPs and behavior intervention plans (BIPs), ensuring consistency across instructional, behavioral, and social-emotional domains. Collect and document detailed academic, behavioral, and functional data to inform progress monitoring and team decision-making. Assist scholars with personal care tasks, including toileting, feeding, hygiene, and physical support (e.g., lifting, repositioning), while maintaining safety, dignity, and respect. All Paraprofessionals at Rocky Mountain Prep will: Take ownership of student outcomes by setting high expectations, using data to guide instruction, and ensuring all scholars grow through strong planning, rigorous teaching, and timely re-teaching. They build inclusive, relationship-centered classrooms by implementing proactive routines, culturally responsive practices, and consistent communication with families. RMP paraprofessionals collaborate closely with colleagues and support staff, contribute to school-wide initiatives, and support daily operations to maintain a safe and organized environment.
