About The Position

The Auditor-Quality Control Inspector conducts assessments before and quality control inspections after the installation of weatherization measures to increase the health and safety of client homes. Through the collection of site-specific data, the auditor recommends and prioritizes energy improvements based on cost-effectiveness and return on investment required by available funding sources. After installation, the auditor performs quality assurance inspections to verify workmanship and the delivery of quality client service and ensures that each client understands the scope and benefit of the work performed. Must be able to work occasional evening and weekend hours as workload dictates.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Weatherization Assistance Program Standard Work Specifications and building science acumen, including residential heating and cooling system components, air sealing, and insulation.
  • Knowledge of funding sources, requirements, and availability to complete required work.
  • Ability to use residential energy auditing software and to easily adapt to changes in software when necessary.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to proficiently use and properly maintain tools, equipment, and materials required for duties described.
  • Ability to communicate courteously and professionally with clients regarding the scope of work.
  • Intermediate mathematics skills.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record consistent with current CHP insurability guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in construction, building science, or a related field is preferred.
  • Position-related training and certifications, such as Building Performance Institute (BPI), are preferred.
  • Required or related training and a minimum of 1 year of experience in weatherization assistance or related energy conservation/efficiency may substitute for the education required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular client assessment visits to collect field data, including air leakage, duct leakage, attic and zonal pressure diagnostics, load calculations, heating and cooling system requirements, and calculate the estimated list of needed construction materials.
  • Prepare a report diagnosing project work scope, materials, and requirements based on building science knowledge and available funding.
  • Perform quality assurance inspections of work completed by CHP Energy Solutions staff and subcontractors to ensure the work scope was completed correctly and completely.
  • Communicate clearly, professionally, and courteously with clients to ensure understanding of work performed and overall client satisfaction.
  • Maintain required training, industry certifications, and licensing.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record consistent with current CHP insurability guidelines.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
