About The Position

Reporting to the Director of User Experience, the Audiovisual Technical Support Specialist ensures the success of evening classes and academic events by providing immediate technical assistance to faculty and guest speakers. The Audiovisual Technical Support Specialist is responsible for troubleshooting classroom displays, audio systems, and integrated control interfaces in a “smart” classroom environment. Additionally, this role manages hybrid session connectivity and conducts nightly equipment sweeps to maintain campus operational readiness.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of relevant AV or IT support experience, including prior experience in higher education AV support or general event production.
  • Foundational knowledge of audiovisual signal flow, including HDMI and USB-C connections.
  • Understanding display settings and configurations on both Mac and Windows platforms.
  • Familiarity with Extron control systems and the ability to navigate and troubleshoot integrated AV interfaces.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google drives/folders/forms, Adobe Acrobat, Web Editing, and social media applications or any combination of productivity programs applicable to position responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and thorough; skilled at anticipating and preventing potential problems and handling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Faculty Support - Respond to high-priority classroom calls to resolve issues with projectors, displays, and audio systems.
  • Event Setup - Prepare and strike AV equipment for guest lectures and special presentations (e.g., microphones, laptops).
  • Technical Check-ups - Conduct nightly sweeps of classrooms to ensure cables are intact and systems are reset for the following day.
  • Hybrid Connectivity - Assist users in launching and managing virtual (Zoom/Teams) sessions within hybrid classroom environments.
  • Control System Management - Navigate and troubleshoot integrated interfaces (Extron touch panels) and switch inputs.
