G ENERAL P URPOSE OF J OB : To provide technical and administrative support to the DCH ENT teams in the delivery of audiologic screening and hearing healthcare services under physician supervision. The Audiology Technician assists with the technical components of audiologic procedures and performs hearing screenings in accordance with federal guidelines and Texas state law. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current CPR certification or will complete within 90 days upon hire

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children in a health care setting is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Always maintains utmost level of confidentiality.
  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
  • Supports the ENT team during audiometric assessment of patients.
  • Supports the audiologist or physician by assisting with set-up and technical tasks.
  • Maintains stock levels in clinical areas.
  • Actively working to ensure compliance with infection control and prevention practices so the work area is clean and ready for patient care.
  • Supports clerical and other departmental organizational duties as needed.
  • Performs purchasing duties when requested.
  • Ensure equipment is in working order and calibrations are current. Marks as “out of service” and reports any malfunctioning or out-of-calibration equipment immediately.
  • Able to complete pure tone hearing screenings, tympanometry screenings and otoacoustic emission screening procedures.
  • Able to perform non-diagnostic otoscopy.
  • Comply with clinical documentation requirements.
  • Participates in a variety of patient care-related team meetings.
  • Participates in departmental meetings.
  • Demonstrates the ability to use computer/software applications required for the job.
  • Have ability to drive for Driscoll Children’s Hospital business.
  • May be required to work at an alternate location to support patient care needs.
  • Demonstrates flexibility regarding departmental scheduling needs, including but not limited to compliance with clinic hours, floating between settings and locations, etc.
