About The Position

The Audiology Technician plays a vital role in supporting our team of ENT Physicians, Physician Assistants, and Audiologists. This nonexempt position is responsible for conducting a variety of audiologic tests, assisting with patient care, and handling clinical, clerical, and organizational tasks to ensure patients fully benefit from our services. This role involves working with patients of all ages in a high-volume clinical ENT setting.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a valid CPOP (Certification Program for Otolaryngology Personnel).
  • Minimum 1–2 years of healthcare experience, preferably in audiology.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Experience with EHR systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to project a professional image while demonstrating compassion and diplomacy.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as an Audiology Assistant or Medical Assistant.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct diagnostic hearing tests and assess ear health during regular office hours.
  • Assist Audiologists with diagnostic testing, including equipment setup and room preparation.
  • Coordinate patient flow by checking schedules, organizing appointments, and ensuring pre-visit information is complete.
  • Alert providers to special patient needs, such as interpretation services.
  • Communicate effectively with staff regarding patient concerns, issues, or cancellations.
  • Perform troubleshooting, basic checks, and minor repairs on hearing aids, earmolds, and other amplification devices.
  • Sanitize and maintain audiological equipment to ensure proper function and clinic standards.
  • Manage inventory, including tracking hearing aid repairs and assembling devices upon receipt from manufacturers.
  • Perform basic hearing aid checks and minor repairs.
  • Document interactions accurately in Electronic Health Records (EHR) and follow up on EHR tasks within appropriate timeframes.
  • Fulfill clerical duties, such as scheduling appointments, confirming insurance coverage, requesting prior authorizations, and managing patient charts.
  • Manage communications, including returning patient phone calls and handling mail or faxes related to care.
  • Maintain a clean environment and adhere to all HIPAA, safety, and meaningful use workflows.
