About The Position

We design, install, and maintain advanced electrical systems. Our expertise spans traditional electrical contracting, security solutions, audio-visual integration, wireless networking, and building management systems. Job Summary Miller Electric-The Audio Visual Service Technician will be responsible for responding to Audio Visual service calls, troubleshooting, and resolving. The A/V Service Technician will also assist in compiling and recording service contract information and documentation. In between service calls, the technician will be responsible to assist installation crews with project installation efforts.

Requirements

  • Experienced and proficient in installing and servicing commercial audio and video systems.
  • In-depth experience in troubleshooting A/V and electronic systems.
  • Excellent communicator, well presented in front of clients, and committed to excellent customer service.
  • Able to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
  • Experience with Personal Computer and Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word applications.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner and should have his own tools as an installer. Power tools will be provided by Miller Electric Company
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, work extended hours, and travel independently.
  • Valid driver’s license, an excellent driving record and the ability to operate fleet vehicles in a safe manner at all times.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate articulating boom lifts, climb ladders, and operate such devices in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, leadership, self-starter requiring minimal direct supervision, being able to work individually and as part of a team are all desirable traits.
  • Knowledge of signal flow for audio, video, control and network configurations
  • Willing to travel as necessary.
  • Minimum of 10 years of commercial Audio/Visual experience is required.
  • In-depth experience with the installation and configuration of Extron, Crestron, QSC, Atlas Global COMM, and similar control systems and components is required.
  • A high-level understanding of networks for AV systems and ability configure DSPs and control systems is required.
  • Experience with the installation of digital signage and Direct View LED video walls is required.
  • Ability to follow proper schematic wiring diagrams and hook-up procedures is required.
  • Must have the ability to recognize and provide immediate solutions for onsite changes in system integrations during the construction of buildings.
  • High School diploma or GED and any combination of the following: Formal A/V training from Technical School, or related military school in A/V and or communications. Minimum 10 years of specifically commercial hands-on A/V integration experience. Formal A/V training, to include Installation Tasks, Soldering, Cable Dressing, Cable Tray, Conduit, and Making/Repairing Connectors.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability and familiarity in using Bluebeam, Visio, Draw.IO and similar platforms for communication back to PM and engineering team is preferred.
  • CTS certification.
  • Crestron DM, NVX, and other technical certifications.
  • Qsys Level 1 and Level 2 Extron Control Professional Certification Atlas IED Global COMM Formal Training Biamp Tesira Certification.
  • OSHA 30 certification is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Responding to Audio Visual service calls, troubleshooting, and resolving.

  • Working with helpers on projects assigned to the Technician, including project tasks, training on new products, and managing productivity of installers or service helpers.
