About The Position

This is a full time position that provides a salary commensurate with experience and outstanding benefits in a truth and grace filled work environment. The Audio Engineer / Production Technician supports the technical execution of worship services, rehearsals, and events across HPUMC campuses. This position focuses on audio system setup, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance while also assisting with broader AVL production needs. The individual must be able to operate equipment confidently, maintain organized workspaces, assist staff and volunteers, and adapt to the varying technical needs of worship services and campus events. This role works closely with the Director of Production and Production staff to ensure high-quality in-person and online worship experiences.

Requirements

  • 2–5+ years’ experience in live audio or production environments
  • Understanding of live sound principles, signal flow, and system troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with digital audio consoles and wireless microphone systems
  • Basic knowledge of video, lighting, and production workflows
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as necessary

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required, technical training or certification helpful

Responsibilities

  • Provide audio engineering support for worship services, rehearsals, and ministry events across multiple venues.
  • Set up, test, operate, and strike audio equipment including consoles, microphones, monitors, and related systems.
  • Mix front-of-house, monitors, or broadcast audio as assigned.
  • Ensure consistent audio quality for both in-person and online worship experiences.
  • Work collaboratively with worship leaders, musicians, and production staff to meet service goals.
  • Assist with evaluation, maintenance, repair, and organization of audio and production equipment.
  • Help maintain inventory of microphones, cabling, consoles, speakers, monitors, and related gear.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of technical spaces, storage areas, and stages.
  • Support equipment upgrades, installations, and troubleshooting initiatives.
  • Follow best practices for safe equipment use and storage.
  • Assist with training and coaching volunteers and contractors in audio operation and technical best practices.
  • Provide clear direction and support during rehearsals and services.
  • Foster a collaborative and respectful team environment.
  • Be accessible, responsive, and professional when interacting with staff, volunteers, and congregants.
  • Be willing to assist in video, lighting, or staging support when needed.
  • Remain hands-on and flexible across production roles.
