About The Position

The Greenville, South Carolina office of Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A. is seeking an attorney to join the litigation team in the family law practice area. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with clients on matters involving divorce, custody, equitable apportionment, alimony, child support, and related child-related and financial issues. Candidates should appreciate the variety of legal issues which arise in Family Court and be willing to become more knowledgeable in multiple areas. Family court experience is not required; 1-3 years of experience in a litigation-oriented practice or a judicial clerkship is preferred. Requirements

  • Membership in good standing with the South Carolina Bar and have completed all 403 requirements (possible Nov. 2025 admission should be referenced).
  • A strong interest and willingness to concentrate his or her practice in SC Family Court.
  • The ability to thrive in a collaborative team while also working independently.
  • A strong work ethic with the ability to frequently work more than 40 hours per week.
  • A solid foundation in the rules of civil procedure and rules of evidence, excellent research, written and verbal communication skills, be highly organized and an adept problem solver, Courtroom confidence and experience.
  • The capacity to manage several issues from different cases during the same day, and comfort with the high stakes and high emotions involved.
  • A commitment to developing the skills and perseverance that make for a successful litigator.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Shareholder with client meetings, drafting pleadings and motions, drafting discovery requests and responses, preparing for settlement conferences and mediations, and hearing and trial preparation.
  • Attend hearings, mediations, and depositions both individually and with Shareholder.
  • Support case management, including ensuring deadlines are met and proactively bringing issues and proposed solutions to Shareholder, with focus on associate leadership.
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda.
