About The Position

This is a regular student labor position which serves as Graduate Assistant (GA) for the Women’s Rowing Program within the Athletics Department. This position requires heavy, physical and/or manual labor. The University of Central Oklahoma Women’s Rowing program is seeking a Graduate Assistant (GA) to support the coaching, operations, and daily management of the program. This position is ideal for a graduate student interested in collegiate athletics, coaching development, and high-performance sport environments. The GA will work closely with the Head Coach to support training, team culture, recruiting operations, and competition logistics. The schedule includes nontraditional hours, including early mornings, weekends, and travel during the competitive season. Hours per Week 10-20 hours per week. Non-traditional hours required, including mornings, weekends, and occasional holidays. Schedule varies by season (training versus competition). The Athletics Department at the University of Central Oklahoma currently supports over 400 student athletes in 15 NCAA Division II sports including Football, Men's & Women's Basketball, Men's & Women's Golf, Baseball, Softball, Wrestling, Women's Track & Field (Indoor & Outdoor) and Cross Country, Women's Tennis, Women's Soccer, Women's Rowing and Women's Volleyball.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and admittance into a master’s program at UCO.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Rowing experience (collegiate, club, or equivalent) or relevant coaching experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of student athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with coaching and daily management of the women’s rowing program.
  • Support practice preparation and on-site training sessions.
  • Assist with race-day operations and team travel.
  • Provide administrative and organizational support related to team operations and recruitment.
  • Support a positive, disciplined, and growth-oriented team culture.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
