About The Position

Provide "Athletic Training Services" to student athletes under the direction of the team physician or by written referral from a physician, and in accordance with state athletic training practice act.

Requirements

  • MUST HAVE ATHLETIC TRAINER CERTIFICATION.
  • Valid teaching certificate and courses in coaching theory is preferred.
  • Experience in coaching, first-aid, CPR, and sports medicine.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of students or employees of the district.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Exhibit qualities of leadership and organizational ability and reflect a spirit of cooperation in working with staff and school administration.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain appropriate general treatment orders to be reviewed annually and approved by the team physician.
  • Provide athletic training services for all home athletic contests and away varsity football games.
  • Act as liaison between family physicians and specialists, the school district, athletes and their parents.
  • Maintain accurate records of injuries and treatments.
  • Develop and maintain a budget for the athletic training program.
  • Assist the athletic director as requested.
  • Supervises students of particular program.
  • Assist coaches as needed.
