About The Position

This position requires collaborative work among across three research laboratories with the shared mission to elucidate mechanisms for how cells respond to force. The person in this position is responsible for the generation and interpretation of experimental data using techniques commonly used in the fields of cell biology, biochemistry, and molecular biology. Intermittent assistance with training students and maintenance of laboratory equipment is also part of the position duties. Key to this position is the demonstrated ability to work independently in the design, development, optimization and carrying out of experimental procedures, and conducting data analysis.

  • Demonstrated record of scientific discovery by first authorship on manuscripts
  • Experience in high resolution imaging using light microscopy
  • Experience in protein isolation and western blot analysis
  • Experience testing protein function in cells and mice
  • Experience managing colonies of research mice
  • Experience working with cell culture model systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Experience in written and oral data presentation

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the fundamental principles of metabolism, mitochondrial biology, biochemistry, and molecular biology
  • Experience working with recombinant viral vectors
  • Ability to provide technical instruction and mentorship to laboratory members of the team
  • Ability to work independently
