About The Position

2026-2027 School year. The Kindergarten Assistant will provide academic, socio-emotional, and/or behavioral support at the direction of the kindergarten teacher. The job will include instructional and supervisory responsibilities while working with students one-on-one, with a small group of students, or with a whole group of students. The Kindergarten Assistant will report to and is evaluated by the principal and kindergarten teacher(s). Responsibilities and tasks outlined in this document are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the district.

Requirements

• Passed the ParaPro Test with a score of 457 or higher.
• Reads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Writes simple correspondence.
• Effectively presents information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Adds and subtracts two-digit numbers and multiplies and divides with 10s and 100s.
• Performs these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
• Applies common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions.
• Deals with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
• Microsoft Office.
• Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance. Physical presence is expected as part of a reliable and predictable pattern of attendance.
• Support the district’s vision, mission, goals, and Strategic Plan.
• Engage in civility, respect, and professionalism.
• Maintain the professional knowledge and skills necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of their positions.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with young children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares materials for instruction.
• Provides planning time for teachers, including but not limited to outdoor activities, rhythm activities, and story time.
• Provides lunchroom assistance.
• Supervises school-based routines, such as dismissal, restroom, etc.
• Performs any other duties as assigned.
