About The Position

The University of New Mexico Student Health & Counseling clinic (SHAC) is recruiting for a knowledgeable and experienced Assistant Director of Clinical Counseling and Training. Reporting to the Director of Counseling Services, this position will coordinate and oversee the Mental Health Collaborative, a clinical mental health internship training program within Student Health and Counseling (SHAC). The selected candidate will work collaboratively with clinical staff to support the development, implementation, and evaluation of training activities for graduate-level counseling and social work interns. Provides clinical supervision, internship placement, mentorship, and professional development to interns and trainees engaged in mental health service delivery. Maintains a clinical caseload providing psychosocial assessment, counseling, psychotherapy, and crisis intervention services to university students. The Student Health & Counseling Center is located at the center of campus. The clinic provides comprehensive primary and mental health services and has a laboratory, x-ray, pharmacy, physical therapy, acupuncture, case management, and health promotions on site. Other medical services provided are same day appointments, travel medicine, immunizations, and sports medicine. Requirements

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or an equivalent field
  • At least 3 years of experience directly related to clinical mental health counseling, including experience providing clinical supervision, program development, or training.
  • State of New Mexico licensure as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW/LISW), or equivalent independent clinical licensure.
  • Approved Supervisor Designation through the New Mexico Regulation & Licensing Department, within 3 months from date of hire.
  • Must maintain licensure and certification status.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
