About The Position

Under the direction of the Association Maintenance Director, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for routine facility maintenance, janitorial duties, and minor repairs. This role combines general maintenance responsibilities with custodial work, with a primary emphasis on cleaning, upkeep, and basic repair tasks to ensure a safe and well‑maintained environment.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Two years’ experience in general maintenance.
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with safe use of power tools and hand tools.
  • Having and maintain a clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Record).
  • This position requires the ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must maintain safe environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine maintenance, landscaping and minor repair (including electrical, plumbing, painting and carpentry) of all buildings and equipment in YMCA facilities.
  • Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
  • Responds to emergency maintenance requests during working hours.
  • Assists with the renovation/remodeling of buildings.
  • Notifies Maintenance Director of any maintenance of facility that requires major repair.
  • Effectively work with departments requesting maintenance work.
  • Knowledge of all Safety and Emergency procedures
  • Weekly mowing of lawns and trimming of bushes as necessary.
  • Monthly cleaning of rain gutters and other drainage systems.
  • Trimming of trees to ensure proper night lighting.
  • Responsible for cleanliness in assigned areas including sweep, mop, dust, vacuum, clean
  • Assist with setups and takedowns.
  • Assist with moving furniture and equipment.
  • Able to operate small power equipment, floor scrubbers, polishers, carpet shampooers, lawn equipment and basic understanding of hand tools.
  • Clean locker rooms and showers.
  • Ability to learn on the job skills.
  • May assist in maintenance jobs requiring more than one person.
  • Reports any building or mechanical deficiencies to Director of maintenance
