About The Position

Boeing Global Services (BGS) is looking for an Associate Welding Fabrication Specialist to join our SAMC back shop team in San Antonio, TX. Position Responsibilities: Plan the sequence of welding operations working from assembly outlines, process specifications, welding procedure, x-ray film and written or verbal instructions Set up and operate gas, manual, GTAW, GMAW, welding equipment Adjust speed of travel, amperage and distance from torch to metal during welding Perform certified welding on company products where a high degree of mental concentration, sensory alertness, manual coordination and unusually difficult working positions are required for long periods Ability to meet customer, engineering, and NDT (e.g. X-ray, dye penetrant and ultrasonic) specifications beyond those normally required of journeyman welders May also perform production welding normally associated with lower rated classifications Ability to pass an eye exam

Requirements

  • 3+ years of TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding experience with aluminum, Inconel, stainless steel and titanium
  • Experience reading blueprints and structural drawings
  • Experience using basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
  • Ability to work variable shifts (i.e. scheduled and unscheduled overtime; weekends and holidays) to support mission requirements and workload
  • This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

  • Ability to read TIG welding blueprints and specifications
  • Able to use a 2-person lift for weights greater than 50lbs
