About The Position

The Fabrication Specialist is responsible for supporting engineering and product development by fabricating prototype and production-ready components in a model shop environment. This role requires hands-on expertise with a variety of fabrication equipment and tools, as well as strong collaboration skills to work effectively with engineering teams. The Fabrication Specialist will be based onsite at our Lewisville, TX location and report under the Engineering leadership.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in fabrication, model shop, or prototype lab environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with laser cutting (required).
  • Experience with press brakes, forming, and general metal fabrication.
  • TIG welding experience preferred (precision work strongly valued).
  • Exposure to manual machining (lathe/mill) or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD models.
  • Experience supporting prototyping or product development environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with 3D printing is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and craftsmanship.
  • High attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to work with speed and precision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a “figure it out and get it done” attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate prototype and low-volume production components using laser cutting, forming, welding, and general shop tools.
  • Operate and maintain fabrication equipment including laser cutters, press brakes, saws, and grinders.
  • Perform sheet metal forming and bending operations to meet design specifications.
  • Execute welding processes (TIG preferred) for precision assemblies.
  • Support future manual machining operations (lathes, mills) as capabilities expand.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications to produce accurate parts.
  • Partner closely with engineering to support rapid prototyping, testing, and design iteration.
  • Inspect and verify parts for quality, fit, and function.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of fabrication processes, tooling, and workflow.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe prototype lab environment.
