About The Position

The Associate Systems Administrator is an internal role helps to administrate the day-to-day IT infrastructure and support employees at Simantel. They assist with deploying and maintaining IT infrastructure as well as assisting with support ticket escalations. As an Associate Systems Administrator, my objective is: To maintain a modern and reliable technology environment that supports high system availability and a positive employee experience, while continuously building technical expertise and contributing to the stability and scalability of core systems. The outcomes I need to produce for the agency are: High systems uptime Advancing the technology roadmap Effectively resolving support requests Consistent and reliable execution of day-to-day IT operations Improved response times and user experience for IT support To produce these outcomes, I need to: Fast and efficient infrastructure maintenance Collaborate with internal teams to implement new systems Troubleshoot and resolve complex, escalated, support requests Communicate clearly with users Monitor systems and ticket queue Assist in maintaining system performance, reliability, and security standards Document processes, configurations, and recurring solutions Develop familiarity with backup processes, system monitoring, and access management

Requirements

  • Familiarity with Proxmox, Ubiquity, and Synology or similar technologies
  • Comfortability with command-line, and writing and executing scripts
  • Familiarity with Debian Linux and proficiency with macOS and Windows operating systems
  • Familiarity with Okta and Microsoft 365
  • Familiarity with SimpleMDM, Munki, and AutoPkg, or comparable tools
  • Foundational understanding of networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls)
  • Basic understanding of security best practices and system hardening
  • Ability to follow documented processes and contribute to improving them
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a ticket-driven environment
