About The Position

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world’s leading conservation organizations, seeks a Associate Specialist, Climate Communications. Reporting to the Senior Director, Climate Communications, the Associate Specialist will help increase the visibility of WWF’s climate work, support senior leadership communications, and develop compelling content that highlights the critical connections between climate change, nature, wildlife, and communities. This role provides essential execution and coordination capacity for the climate program and works closely with colleagues across marketing and communications, policy, corporate engagement, and other WWF goal teams. This is an ideal opportunity for an early-career communicator who enjoys social media to develop foundational skills, gain hands-on experience, and build a professional path in climate and nature communications. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 to 4 years professional experience in communications, marketing, media relations, social media management, and/or comparable relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of conservation, climate change and/or international development issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and develop expertise while keeping up with administrative and logistical tasks upon which the team relies.
  • Ability to set priorities, manage a multitude of details simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, and collaborate effectively in a matrixed team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required -- knowing when to use courtesy, tact and/or diplomacy to effectively communicate with all constituents.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and maintains communications materials including a communications calendar, messaging and talking points, a facts library, and presentation templates.
  • Researches and synthesizes technical information into clear stories that describe the intersection between conservation and climate change and other cross‑program issues.
  • Supports WWF‑US climate leadership through securing speaking opportunities, managing event logistics, and writing briefing notes.
  • Manages select program and staff social media accounts through developing written, video and creative content, scheduling posts, and measuring engagement.
  • Assists in coordinating how the WWF-US office participates in Climate Weeks and other high profile climate fora.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
