The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high quality drinking water, managing wastewater and stormwater, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. DEP's water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the system’s 2,000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the City. The Bureau of Water Supply seeks to hire an Associate Project Manager II, in the Regulatory & Engineering Programs section within the Bureau of Water Supply’s Source Water Protection (SWP) directorate, for a position located in Valhalla, NY. The Regulatory & Engineering Program is responsible for the administration of DEP’s Watershed Regulations which govern land development activities in the NYC watershed. This position will review and approve applications for both wastewater and stormwater related activities pursuant to the Watershed Regulations, prepare technical comments on SEQRA notices, assist with Filtration Avoidance Determination (FAD) deliverables and tracking of regulatory violations, inspect active construction sites, resolve violations, and work cooperatively with other groups on a variety of Bureau functions. (This is a brief description and does not include all the duties of this position). Some of the physical activities and environmental conditions performed by the Associate Project Manager are to inspect and traverse undeveloped properties and active construction sites which may include rough terrain, wet areas and steep slopes.
