POSITION PURPOSE: Under supervision of Manager, reviews and evaluates existing benefit patterns or benefit offerings on groups of 2 and greater contracts to ensure that the corporation is competitive in the marketplace while protecting the financial integrity of the company. Will also be accountable for complying with all laws, regulations and company procedures associated with duties and responsibilities. NATURE AND SCOPE: Position Location: This position reports to the Manager in Underwriting. Activities of Direct Reports: This position has no reports. Necessary Contacts: In order to effectively fulfill this position, the employee must be in contact with: Marketing, Accounting, Actuarial, Legal, Claims, Enrollment and Billing, Compliance, Financial Investigations, Southern National Life (SNL), Business Engineering Team (BET), Pharmacy and Blue Benefit Services (BBS). QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Math, Finance or related field is required. May accept four (4) years of related experience in lieu of degree. Insurance related professional courses (HIAA, LOMA, and CEBS tests passed or scheduled for the near future) is preferred. Two (2) years of experience in the insurance industry is preferred. Must have excellent organizational, mathematical, communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to prioritize multiple responsibilities, be detail oriented and remain diplomatic in a variety of situations while handling multiple tasks simultaneously. Knowledgeable of relevant software (MS Office Suite) and Facets preferred. ACCOUNTABILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provides the evaluation and analysis of risks, calculates financial products available for group business contracts two 2-99 in conjunction with the Company's current financial position and direction. Performs general risk assessment and quotes for groups with premium value less than $1,000,000 without management approval. Risk assessments greater than $1,000,000 requires management over site. Verifies a group and its members are eligible entities for coverage under current BlueCross BlueShield of Louisiana contract provisions, ensuring use of compliant materials and validating that all rating action is compliant to Federal and State laws. Prepares and distributes all necessary documentation for a standard renewal or proposal package. Additionally, must be able to assist in the preparation and distribution of a Formal Request for Proposal. Serves as the initial contact in the negotiation process with Marketing Personnel when necessary and in conjunction with the Company's current financial position and direction. Evaluates and resolves non-standard requests and/or exceptions when beyond the normal realm of contract language requiring Underwriting's approval. Serves as the initial contact providing the decision support activities for all levels of Management. This primarily involves providing the research and making recommendations.
