About The Position

The Associate Engineer works under general supervision, providing engineering support to field staff and personnel through various projects. This role involves evaluating system performance through modeling, developing system designs, overseeing construction, maintenance, and operations, investigating incidents, troubleshooting systems and equipment, and testing materials. This position is part of an engineering rotation program designed to provide Engineers with opportunities to learn a variety of engineering functions, with experience being a determining factor for placement within the Engineering job family (Associate Engineer and Engineer).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (May 2026 Grads will be included)
  • Must meet company standards for driving and maintain a valid driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Provide Engineering support to field staff and personnel through a variety of projects and assignments
  • Evaluate system performance through modeling
  • Develop system designs
  • Oversee construction, maintenance, and operations activities
  • Investigate incidents
  • Trouble-shoot systems and equipment
  • Test materials
  • Perform other assignments
  • Ensure a safe and reliable natural gas system is maintained for Peoples Gas customers
  • Work with a variety of software to analyze design feasibility, create initial design estimate and progress designs through approval for construction
  • Understand the operation of gas facilities to properly supply natural gas to customers
  • Develop knowledge of the installation process of new facilities and the retirement of existing ones as a part of new pipeline replacement program
  • Work with various stakeholders and provide input on technical engineering aspects of projects
