About The Position

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Youth & Family Services Coordinator interacts with new and existing members, creates a welcoming environment for all members of all backgrounds and abilities, and develops, organizes, teaches and implements high quality YMCA program(s). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ensure that programs are following state regulations, licensing and meet YMCA best practices. Supervise classroom record keeping; keeping records needed for planning, evaluation of the program and individual child development. Maintain and keep necessary documents and records for the site state Licensing Book. Maintain and support the overall quality, safety, supervision of children and staff and program components of the Preschool program. Ensure that programs are high quality and meet the needs of the children and families we serve. In partnership with the Senior Youth Services Director, interview, hire and train qualified staff for programs. Assist Senior Youth Services Director with Site Visits and coverage as needed for School Programs. Serves as a leadership role in the Summer Camp program during the summer months. Always maintain a professional manner with children, parents, co-workers, and community. Act in accordance with the YMCA philosophy, program goals and objectives, and our policies and procedures. Have the ability to train staff on identifying child abuse/neglect and act in accordance with YMCA, state, and local guidelines. Conduct staff meetings and staff training sessions. Maintain current CPR/AED and first aid certifications and ensure programs staff's certification are up to date. Function as a resource for all staff. Perform other job-related duties as requested and necessary. Collaborates with Senior Youth Services Director and Director of Youth Services. Requirements

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree and 1 year of managerial or supervisory experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with working with children in a structured setting.
  • Basic understanding of youth development principles.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, Google Docs, and Google Sheets.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels including staff, parents, and school staff.
  • Ability to problem solve and take initiative that adheres to the purpose, mission, and goals of the YMCA.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as a role model and take initiative to identify potential risk factors and take measures to reduce them.
  • First-Aid, CPR and AED certification are required.
  • Must complete CARI Background Check, CHRI/Fingerprinting, provide proof of a Mantoux test within two weeks of hire, and any additional training requirements, as per the Office of Licensing and the West Morris Area YMCA.
