Associate Director, University Advisement Center The Associate Director provides administrative, operational, and student service leadership for the University Advisement Center. This role oversees front desk operations, coordinates data reporting, plans and executes major programs and events (e.g., Major Fair, NSO, outreach initiatives), and serves on the Center’s Leadership Team. The position contributes to strategic decision-making and, in partnership with the Associate Director of Exploration Point, provides direct support to the Director. The role also includes delivering academic and career advisement and representing the Center across campus.

Requirements

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Advising, Student Affairs, or related field; minimum two years of experience in advisement, program leadership, and/or supervision.
  • University-level advising experience; supervisory and human resource management skills; advanced helping skills; knowledge of university policies and procedures; strong connections within the BYU advisement community.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in a related field; minimum seven years of progressively responsible experience in advisement, leadership, and/or supervision.
  • Program leadership; event planning; reporting and data analytics; web design/content management; knowledge of Human-Centered Design.

Responsibilities

  • Programmatic Planning and Logistics Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of key Center programs and events (e.g., Exploration Point events, Group Advising, Early Alert outreach, Major Fair, NSO), while building and maintaining strategic campus partnerships and serving on university committees as requested.
  • Front Desk Management Oversee front desk and lobby operations to ensure alignment with strategic priorities; supervise and develop the Office Manager; represent Center priorities in staff meetings; monitor advising trends and make operational recommendations to the Director.
  • Direct Service to Students Provide comprehensive academic and career advisement to diverse student populations (including open major, international, transfer, high-risk, and graduate-school-bound students); maintain expertise in university policies, programs, and career assessment interpretation.
  • Leadership Team Serve on the Center’s Leadership Team to advance strategic initiatives; coordinate advising and outreach efforts; support the Director in unit priorities; oversee data reporting and analytics for informed decision-making.
  • Professional Development Engage in ongoing professional development through training, research, presentations, and conference participation to maintain expertise in academic and career advisement.
