In this position, you will have the opportunity to develop relationships with key patient advocacy organizations and lead patient advocacy disease state programs. Position Summary: This position is responsible for collaborating with assigned patient and professional organizations to develop and maintain strong Taiho Oncology, Inc., (TOI) advocacy business relationships. This individual will be responsible for strategic input and recommendations that align with Taiho corporate mission and business needs within assigned disease states to contribute to the overall Patient Alliances Strategy. The position focuses on identifying, assisting the development of, and coordinating implementation of programs to support advocacy and professional organizations’ disease education and awareness priorities that are strategically aligned with TOI. This person will also be responsible for representing and integrating patient insights into the relevant business planning and execution functions of TOI. This person will work across functions, collaborating with Clinical Operations, Brand Marketing, Market Access, Medical Affairs/MSLs, Field Sales, Legal and Compliance. All engagement with patient stakeholders will be done with the highest level of integrity, respect, and quality in alignment with our corporate Mission.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Biological and/or Health Related Sciences or non-Biological/Health Related Sciences degree with 2+ years oncology experience. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 2+ years oncology pharma/biotech experience or related experience required.
  • 7-8+ years patient advocacy experience, oncology preferred.
  • Strategic acumen to understand team and business goals and engage with appropriate patient advocacy organizations to help achieve them.
  • Experience collaborating with patient education/awareness initiatives.
  • Experience in leading meetings and presenting to groups preferred.
  • Strong people skills, including capability to engage in professional relationship building and networking.
  • Ability to exhibit empathy with patient organizations while maintaining professionalism and corporate business focus.
  • Ability to professionally interact with executive corporate leadership.
  • Effective communication, project development and implementation skills.
  • Adept at working cross-functionally, sharing information and team orientated.
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and proactive approach.
  • Balance relationships across patient advocacy groups, especially with biased interests.
  • Understanding of oral oncology cancer care delivery.
  • Ability to master knowledge in general oncology and across tumor types.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret scientific and technical-related data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Competency with standard Microsoft Office software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Actively monitor new developments and scientific leader insights in the field of patient advocacy and incorporate such developments, ideas, and strategies into the development and execution of programs.
  • Maintain awareness of current and new local, state, and federal health care policy that could impact patients with cancer care, and access.
  • Develop, maintain, and foster business relationships among executive leadership within key patient and professional organizations for existing products.
  • Proactively identify opportunities and needs for advocacy engagement for new products/indications.
  • Develop and executive strategic and tactical plans in collaboration with internal cross-functional stakeholders, ensuring alignment across teams, including medical affairs, clinical operations, regulatory, commercial, and corporate communications.
  • Communicate insights and strategic recommendations from advocacy and professional organizations to support TOI Business Planning across all key internal stakeholders.
  • Drive internal and external communication strategies to create visibility of patient advocacy groups and disease education and awareness. And when relevant, in collaboration with Public Relations.
  • Initiate, lead and execute high-priority pilot community engagement initiatives with cross functional teams across the organization that align with strategic priorities, such as with clinical development to increase diversity in Taiho clinical trials.
  • Enhance TOI’s corporate and brand equity through professional engagements with patient advocacy organizations.
