The Associate Director of Development is a frontline fundraiser responsible for the qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift prospects. The Associate Director of Development will identify, engage, and solicit donors at all life stages, including prospect research, development of effective solicitation strategies and stewardship of donors throughout the major giving process. The Associate Director of Development will typically maintain a donor portfolio with a focus on gifts of $50,000 or above. The Associate Director of Development may require frequent travel and meetings on and off campus during regular and non-traditional business hours and is expected to operate with high levels of autonomy. The Kimmel Cancer Center Development Team is hiring two Associate Directors to partner closely with physicians, clinical leadership, and development colleagues to engage patients in philanthropic contributions. The Associate Directors will be based at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC focusing on patients of the Sibley Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center in the Greater Washington Area. One role will focus primarily on Neuro Oncology, Cancer Disparities Initiatives, and the Center for Patient and Family Services and the other role will focus on Lung Cancer, Melanoma, Palliative Care, and General Cancer Research. In addition to the duties described above, the Associate Director of Development will: Manage a portfolio of faculty and clinical staff in the grateful patient fundraising space embedded within the Cancer Service Line Fundraising Team (CSLFT) based at Sibley Memorial Hospital. Collaborate closely with faculty and clinical staff in assigned service lines to proactively identify, engage, and cultivate grateful patient philanthropic opportunities in alignment with institutional priorities. Maintain a portfolio of approximately 120 annual and major gift donors and prospects in assigned service lines through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, including written and verbal communication and personal donor visits. Develop a comprehensive understanding of the priorities of the faculty and Hospital in assigned cancer service lines in order to represent these needs both internally and externally. Articulate the need for support for unrestricted funds and priority needs within these areas.
