Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/innovative-medicine Purpose: The Associate Director, Market Research is responsible for leading Market Research to generate new business insights and uncover growth opportunities for Caplyta. This individual will closely partner with cross-functional teams including marketing, sales, and other business partners: delivering business building recommendations, shaping decision-making, and driving organizational action. The position plays a key role in advising leadership and guiding the business in the development and evaluation of new and existing strategies and tactics and as a result, shares accountability for business results. This individual will lead the design and execution of integrated learning plans spanning a range of research types across patient, HCP, Payers and marketing. They must have exceptional leadership skills, having demonstrated the ability to clearly and concisely deliver insights, lead collaboration across teams, inspire without authority, and encourage smart risk-taking. They will be personally accountable for making Johnson & Johnson Credo-based decisions and encouraging a Credo-based culture.

Requirements

  • BA/BS Required; Advanced Degree Desirable
  • At least 7 years of relevant business experience in market research, business intelligence, marketing, sales, business analytics, strategic planning, or management consulting.
  • Knowledge and experience across a broad spectrum of market research (qualitative and quantitative) approaches with the ability to identify appropriate approaches to address key business questions
  • Proven success partnering across business teams to integrate research insights and relevant analytics/data and then translate into actionable recommendations.
  • Fluency in storytelling and developing effective presentations through compelling visualizations of research findings and insights with comprehensive and impactful recommendations and solutions that drive key decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy and integrity to define key business questions with a focused approach to solving through market research plans
  • High degree of comfort navigating ambiguity and striking the right balance between research rigor and speed to decision making

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on or directly with pharmaceutical brand marketing/sales teams
  • Relevant therapeutic area experience
  • Proven track record of mentorship / coaching of team members to enable development of market research skills

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Market Research lead, designing and managing a market research plan which addresses key business questions and informs business planning strategy and tactics.
  • Ensure timely tracking and management of the market research operating budget to goals
  • Lead the development and implementation of primary research for health care professionals, patients and/or payers including developmental research (e.g. attitudinal segmentation, patient journey, etc.), evaluative research (brand positioning, message testing, etc.) and tracking research (message recall, ATUs, etc.)
  • Determine optimal market research approaches to address key business questions, identify appropriate internal and external partners, develop strong partnerships in the context of resources, timing, and overall business goals.
  • Integrate and synthesize market research insights into actionable recommendations that influence business partners at all levels to incorporate in business strategy and decision making.
  • Champion the development and implementation of market research approaches and methods that are innovative, drive efficiencies, and contribute to broader sharing of best practices.
  • Demonstrate leadership courage to set priorities and ensure resources are focused on the most critical/ high value projects.
  • Drive a culture of simplicity within the Strategic Insights team and with partners to ensure business processes are streamlined and research studies, with actionable insights, are delivered in a timely manner to influence the business.
  • Act as a mentor/coach to enable the development of market research skills and experience with other Strategic insights team members
  • Stay abreast of emerging healthcare & pharmaceutical industry trends and assess their potential impact on business strategies.
