The Associate Director will lead the delivery of the internal audit plan by managing a team of internal auditors and, when necessary, external consultants. Responsibilities include developing audit scope, executing audit procedures, and preparing reports for management and the Audit Committee of the Board. The role also involves overseeing key processes within the Audit department, aligning activities with other Markel assurance functions, and supporting senior leadership in preparing and presenting materials for management and audit committees. The Associate Director will exercise strong business judgment, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities, leveraging data analysis and cost evaluations as needed. They will ensure the audit team is properly trained, motivated, and operating effectively. Travel to business locations may be required.
