The Associate Director, Institutional Partnerships will steward, strengthen, and expand the Center’s government funding portfolio while spearheading expansion into the new market of European foundations. This role will manage relationships with current government funding partners, secure new relationships with other institutional donors, ensure compliance at the proposal stage (including creating complex multi-year budgets, reviewing and aligning to complex donor policy and compliance requirements), and identify opportunities for renewal and growth. Simultaneously, the position will develop and execute a strategy to cultivate European foundations, build a robust prospect pipeline, and secure new philanthropic partnerships. This position will be focused on raising funds for the Center’s regional program work, specifically Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America. The ideal candidate will bring strong prospect-development skills, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to translate organizational priorities into compelling cases for support, ultimately establishing a sustainable donor pipeline. S/he will also have extensive experience managing bids for government funders. S/he will work with the Senior Director of Institutional Partnerships to meet annual revenue targets to ensure the organization can meet its budget each year. The Associate Director will oversee a team of two staff: a Senior Manager, Institutional Partnerships and a Manager, Institutional Partnerships (both based in Nairobi). This position is to be based in Geneva, Switzerland. This position will also require some travel domestically and internationally, approximately 1-2 trips a quarter.
