Job Description: Reporting to the Director for Undergraduate Admission, the Associate Director for Admission is responsible to identify, recruit and enroll incoming prospective high school students or other populations as required while providing guidance to Assistant and Senior Assistant Directors of Admissions and support to the Director and Enrollment Division.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Valid Driver’s license and the ability to travel seasonally and work evening and weekend events.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, oral and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and follow up protocols
  • Knowledge of Slate CRM, Microsoft Office, Excel required
  • Ability to work effectively with all University personnel, students, and the community.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Supervision
  • Develop and maintain strong understanding and knowledge of the University, its academic and student life programs, and policies in order to communicate accurate and current information to prospective students.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to members of the admission team.
  • Working with Director of Undergraduate Admission, lead training for new counselors and support professional development for the team.
  • Manage at least one strategic initiative or functional area (e.g., Slate CRM workflows, transfer recruitment, counselor engagements, data reporting, direct admission, campus events, or digital marketing pipelines).
  • Assist in setting annual enrollment targets, project timelines, and recruitment strategies.
  • Serve as a point of contact for designated academic programs, schools, or student pipelines.
  • Recruitment & Outreach
  • Manage a defined recruitment territory with clear goals and travel expectations.
  • Represent UMSV at high schools, college fairs, specialized programs, and virtual events.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with school counselors, CBOs, and community partners.
  • Support new and emerging recruitment strategies—including direct admission, College Vine, virtual student engagement, etc.
  • Application Review & Yield
  • Review applications for admission and make informed recommendations.
  • Maintain constant communication via phone, email, text and chat with individual prospective students throughout the recruitment funnel; participate in follow up activities as defined by the Director.
  • Monitor student progression through the funnel; use Slate to drive activity and follow-ups.
  • Support financial aid conversations and help students/families navigate enrollment steps.
  • Lead or contribute to yield and anti-melt campaigns, including text/call/email follow-ups.
  • Event & Project Coordination
  • Provide leadership support for major events such as Open House, Accepted Student Days, counselor receptions, and other campus visits.
  • Coordinate or oversee communication campaigns to prospective/funnel students.
  • Assist with staff scheduling, travel planning, recruitment calendar, and visit logistics.
  • Data, Reporting & Strategy
  • Track recruitment progress using Slate and enrollment dashboards.
  • Analyze outcomes to inform decision-making and strategy adjustments.
  • Provide weekly reports and enrollment updates to the Director of Admission.
  • Contribute to annual planning, goal setting, and territory performance reports.
  • Collaboration & Institutional Partnership
  • Work closely with Financial Aid, Athletics, Advisement & Retention, and Academic Affairs.
  • Represent Admissions on cross-functional committees when appropriate.
  • Support alignment of messaging across academic programs, marketing, and admissions materials.
  • Participate in University-wide events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
