About The Position

The Associate Director, Athletics Annual Giving, is responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and management of all annual fund solicitations and initiatives to maximize donor engagement and revenue. This role encompasses a multi-faceted approach, including developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies across digital, mail, and web platforms. The Associate Director, Athletics Annual Giving, also serves as the staff liaison to the Bronco Bench Foundation (“BBF”) Board of Directors and manages a portfolio of Athletics’ annual/leadership giving prospects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus four (4) to six (6) years professional experience, which includes three (3) to five (5) years of direct development, fundraising and/or transferable professional skills that include sales and/or developing relationships with volunteers and/or high net worth clients.
  • Knowledge of NCAA and Conference regulations and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of office management principles and procedures.
  • Ability to organize workflow, manage resources, and coordinate activities.
  • Skill in MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail), and other relevant software.
  • Ability to learn new software necessary to assist in office administration.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all members of a diverse community to manage a variety of tasks and complex projects with follow through and completion in a timely manner.
  • General knowledge of budget development and fiscal management.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret policies and procedures, budget guidelines, etc.
  • Ability to manage and maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to make independent decisions, demonstrating sound judgment, and discretion.
  • Ability to research and resolve office management problems and questions.
  • Valid driver's license.

  • Knowledge Knowledge of fundraising procedures and reporting in Division I intercollegiate athletics.
  • Direct knowledge of successful fundraising best practices with an emphasis on annual giving and personal solicitations, with a general understanding of higher education advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Strategize, coordinate, update, write, and manage all annual fund solicitations using mail and various digital communications platforms.
  • Serve as the liaison to the BBF Board of Directors, oversee the recruitment of BBF Board Members, conduct regular Board meetings, oversee BBF fundraising events (e.g., BBF Golf Tournament and BBF Bocce Tournament), ensure the solicitation of Board members, and manage Board member engagement.
  • Plan and execute annual fund donor acquisition initiatives including Athletics’ participation in Santa Clara University’s (“SCU”) Day of Giving and other targeted microcampaigns.
  • Collaborate with University Relations’ Annual Giving team.
  • Collaborate and strategize with the Athletics’External Relations team.
  • Maintain and update all Athletics’ annual fund giving collateral.
  • Assist with athletics fundraising reporting; track progress towards fundraising goals, accomplishments, and achievements.
  • Manage a strategic portfolio of approximately 50-100 annual and leadership-level athletics giving prospects, focusing primarily on broad-based qualification and discovery efforts while implementing scalable cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Use university CRM to effectively maintain prospect information, including all related fundraising modules to ensure individual and team goals are being met in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
