YOUR ROLE AS ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR: The Associate Director of Academic Assistance provides leadership and operational oversight for advising services within the College of Nursing and Health Professions. This position supervises Academic Advisors I, II, and III supporting undergraduate programs including BSN, LPN, RN, Respiratory Therapy, and Health Sciences, as well as graduate programs including MSN, DNP, PhD, and graduate Respiratory Therapy. The role collaborates closely with faculty, program directors, and university partners to support student success initiatives, resolve complex student issues, and ensure compliance with university policies. Responsibilities include overseeing academic advising operations, training and mentoring advisors, monitoring student progression and CPOS compliance, coordinating outreach initiatives for registration and graduation, supporting graduate admissions and degree audits, preparing institutional reports using systems such as Banner, Navigate, and Argos, and serving as the primary college scheduler for more than 30 academic programs across seven departments. The Associate Director also supports recruitment initiatives, assists with catalog updates and curriculum maintenance, helps ensure operational continuity within the Office of Academic Assistance, and may serve as Acting Director when needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and four years of supervisor/management experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

  • Master’s degree in higher education administration, student affairs, nursing, health professions, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in academic advising, student services, or academic administration.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience with professional staff.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in university systems such as Banner, Degree Works, Navigate, Argos, and 25Live.
  • Knowledge of academic policy, student success strategies, and advising best practices.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience managing course scheduling and curriculum processes in a large academic unit.
  • Familiarity with healthcare or nursing education accreditation and compliance standards.
  • Proven experience resolving complex student issues and collaborating across institutional units.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and supervises academic advisors (I, II, III) supporting senior students in the BSN, LPN, RN, RT, and HS populations (approximately 150+ students annually)
  • Develops and maintains training and onboarding materials for new advisors
  • Trains advisors in creating Academic Improvement Plans and Satisfactory Academic Appeal (SAP) petitions
  • Manages targeted outreach campaigns in Navigate to timely registration and graduation application submission
  • Resolves escalated student issues including complex petitions and financial aid-related inquiries
  • Monitor and addresses any Curriculum program of Study (CPOS) issues for BSN, LPN, RN and RT, HI and HS students
  • Provides guidance and policy for students changing majors within the College
  • Trains advisors to accurately review academic evaluations to ensure timely progression toward graduation; authorizes Degree Works exceptions as appropriate
  • Collaborates regularly with the University Advisement Center, Perimeter College academic assistance leadership, academic advisors, and other CNHP stakeholders
  • Manages and supervises academic advisors (I, II, III) supporting students in MSN, DNP, PhD, and graduate RT programs (approximately 100+ students annually)
  • Collaborates with program directors on graduate admissions processing and application review
  • Oversees routine audits of graduate student academic evaluations
  • Supervises graduation audits and degree completion reviews for graduate students
  • Monitors and resolves CPOS issues for graduate students across MSN, DNP, PhD, and graduate RT programs
  • Coordinates and communicates regularly with undergraduate and graduate program directors regarding academic and curricular changes
  • Assist in the preparation of institutional reports using Argos and Navigate related to enrollment, GPA tracking, and student progression
  • Assist in disseminating university and college policies and procedures to faculty and staff
  • Authorizes exceptions and substitutions in academic evaluations for undergraduate and graduate students in the absence of academic advisors
  • Serves as the primary college scheduler for all undergraduate and graduate programs within CNHP, supporting seven departments and over 30 academic programs
  • Ensures compliance with University and USG scheduling policies and procedures
  • Advises and supports faculty on course numbering and scheduling options
  • Coordinates semester schedule development for fall, spring, and summer terms, including: Distributing schedule request templates to departments Entering and maintaining scheduling data in Banner and 25Live Applies required coding to reflect instructional method, course modality, part of term, cross-listings, campus, degree level, enrollment capacity, instructor assignment, and course descriptions
  • Generates and distributes faculty evaluation reports to department chairs and the Associate Dean for Academics
  • Runs and disseminates end-of-term and start-of-term reports, including missing grade reports, non-reported grade reports, and required NURS 2200 and NURS 2050 reports
  • Supports undergraduate and graduate recruitment efforts, including presenting as needed Panther Preview events and coordination of on-campus recruitment activities
  • Assists the Director with catalog updates, course description maintenance, admissions and enrollment reports
  • Supports daily OAA operations, including participation in staff hiring, coverage planning, and operational continuity
  • Serves as acting Director as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned
