About The Position

The Associate Dean of Alternative Credits reports to the Dean, Alternative Credits and will serve as one of the primary contacts for Alternative Credit Programs at Dallas College. This position will collaborate with Vice Provosts, Deans, Faculty, and staff to integrate industry competencies and credentialing into academic programs while building and strengthening partnerships with corporate and community entities. Additionally, the position will work with the Dean, Alternative Credits to implement and execute Competency-Based Education, Credit for Prior Learning, the College Credit for Heroes program, and Nights and Weekend offerings and partner with Student Success, the Academic Incubator, eLearning, and the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning to ensure program quality and innovation.

  • Demonstrated record of administrative experience, strategic planning, and fiscal management.

  • Knowledge and experience(s) executing operating strategies and plans, managing staff, sustaining the operational financial plan, and overseeing the administrative management of the department(s).
  • Demonstrated success in effectively leading change and organizational growth through strategic planning.
  • Understanding program assessment and accreditation processes/procedures.
  • Ability to analyze strategies to move the department forward, setting goals, evaluating the process, and implementing improvements.
  • Maintains relationships with executive leadership, administrators, faculty, staff, and students to achieve the goals of the department, School, and College, cultivating a positive work environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of policies and procedures and adhere to high ethical standards when implementing processes and improvements to comply with college guidelines.
  • Excellent analytical skills with exceptional organizational skills and ability to think strategically and tactfully.
  • Capable of evaluating options and actions based on trends and conditions in the environment, and the vision and values of the organization.
  • Ability to present concepts effectively and influence all levels of the organization and administration.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and successfully manage high volume of affiliates.
  • Ability to develop positive relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understands local, regional, and national accrediting body requirements that are department and/or program specific.

  • Bachelor’s Degree Official transcripts required.
  • Current and valid Texas driver’s license required.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in higher education or related educational field
  • Three (3) years of progressive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Dean of Alternative Credits working with chairs and leadership on new program development and implementation regarding Competency-Based Education and Nights and Weekend Programs.
  • Support the implementation and integration of Competency-Based Education (CBE) across Dallas College in partnership with Provosts and academic teams.
  • Works closely with Department Chairs and Deans and other stakeholders to foster strategic partnerships that expand alternative credit opportunities with corporate and community entities.
  • Write, secure, and manage grants that support Alternative Credit Program initiatives.
  • Effectively guides the utilization of resources and directs the budgets that support the Alternative Credits initiatives.
  • Works in collaboration with student services to ensure seamless operations for student affairs and career services.
  • Serves as a member and/or subject matter expert to internal entities in Dallas College and actively promotes collaboration with an array of campus and community partners.
  • Works closely with the Dean of Alternative Credits on all matters relating to institutional success, strategic planning development, and substantive revision of academic policies.
  • Maintains active agreements and coordinates renewals when necessary.
  • Responds to additional requests or assignments from the Dean of Alternative Credits.
  • Establishes rapport and positive relationships with affiliates and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Required Dallas College Professional Development Hours per Academic Year. All employees are required to complete a minimum of 19 hours. People leaders are required to have an additional 16 hours of leadership development.
  • Exercises full discretion and decision-making authority in the recruitment, selection, hiring, mentoring, coaching, development & termination of staff, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, budgetary constraints, and workforce planning strategies.
  • Drive high performance by administering the performance management process timely, setting clear expectations, conducting performance evaluations, and implementing initiatives that enhance employee engagement, motivation, and retention.
