About The Position

Works with the Executive Director, Director, and Leadership Team of the Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment (CIA) Department or Special Education Department (as assigned) to coordinate the district’s work in designing, organizing, and supporting the DCSD Alternative Licensure and Induction Programs for new teachers in General or Special Education. Provides leadership and support, responding to the needs of Teachers, Teacher Leaders, Professional Learning Specialists (PLS), Building Leadership Teams (BLT), and leaders in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment and professional learning, especially related to alternative licensure and induction. May work in collaboration with Special Education Leadership (Directors, Coordinators, Leads) to create cohesive special education professional learning for the District.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Leadership, or Special Education (as assigned), or a related discipline
  • Colorado Principal License or Special Education Director License (as assigned)
  • Three (3) years of teaching, leadership or administrative experience at a district or school level
  • Ability to independently perform responsibilities without the necessity of close supervision
  • Ability to maintain a generally positive and professional attitude
  • Administrative and leadership skills, including consensus building, planning, organizing and utilizing resources
  • Advanced computer applications skills including MS Office and Google Suites
  • Effective planning & coordination skills
  • Effective use of time and resources to accomplish tasks
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and demonstrated ability to clearly and concisely present information
  • Knowledge of Colorado Standards for the teaching Profession
  • Knowledge of Effective professional development models and strategies
  • Knowledge of Learning Theory, Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
  • Observes all District policies and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Maintain documentation such as attendance, assignments, transcript hours, etc. to ensure all alternative licensure requirements are met; or for induction participants, that all induction requirements are met.
  • Keep abreast of all new developments in areas of the Alternative Licensure and ensure that state requirements are fully implemented.
  • Collaborate and communicate current information to school contacts and administrators, as well as all other stakeholder groups, concerning the DCSD Induction Program.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Coordinate work in gaining and maintaining authorization status as a Designated Agency for alternative licensure.
  • Coordinate work in maintaining authorization as an approved induction provider by CDE
  • Lead the Alternative Licensure Advisory Committee.
  • Coordinate with HR regarding employment/hiring and licensure process, etc.
  • Develop and deliver a learning progression for various types of licensure through the Alternative Licensure Program.
  • Develop and maintain mentor programs for alternative licensure and induction candidates.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and departments to create and deliver content for alternative licensure in alignment with the teacher quality standards.
  • Works collaboratively with team members, departments, and schools to create and implement the DCSD Induction Program for newly hired licensed staff.
  • Communicate with a variety of audiences through multiple media including email, newsletters, presentations, and other forums as necessary.
