Requirements

  • JD from accredited law school
  • Current license to practice law in a U.S. state
  • 1-5 years of relevant experience (e.g., contract negotiation, general commercial/transactional work, renewable energy experience, corporate legal)
  • Possess effective drafting, negotiating, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently to research and answer questions, provide guidance, and formulate solutions as issues arise.
  • Possess problem solving, effective time management, project management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks, pivoting as needed when business needs change
  • Strong team player with eagerness to learn and take on new tasks
  • Creative, adaptable, and independent thinker

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside General Counsel in negotiating, drafting, and executing operations and maintenance agreements and master services agreements with vendors, suppliers, and consultants
  • Assist engineering, procurement, and field teams as needed with respect to operations and maintenance related contract negotiations for subcontractors and special projects
  • Assist in managing internal risk and compliance, including corporate governance, insurance, safety, and human resources
  • Support operational and contract compliance programs
  • Support relating to any and all legal matters and questions presented to the legal team, such as reviewing and analyzing disputes, contractor licensing requirements, due diligence requests, assisting with RFPs, IT matters, etc.
  • Assist in identifying, managing, and advising business clients and executive management on risk allocation and mitigation
  • Contribute to creating, developing, and implementing processes, procedures, best practices, systems, and controls within the legal department, and more broadly within the business, and recommend improvements to those already existing
  • Stay current with events and developments affecting the renewable energy industry, with particular emphasis on possible impacts to the business
  • Bring a positive, energetic, “can-do,” problem solving attitude to the workplace
